Recently, Maleny & Hinterland Real Estate had the privilege of applying for a grant through RealEstate.Com for local community group Studio23 and are delighted to say the grant was successful.

$1650  is headed to Studio23 for their music and art programs including the purchase of a digital camera and a quality printer and scanner.

“We are planning to start photography as one of our main projects and need digital cameras and a quality printer for members to use for this program,” said Studio23 Program Director Kris Fitzgerald. “We also need a good scanner for art and music programs”.

Studio23 is a not-for-profit centre in Maleny; it is a place where members with diverse abilities can socialise, connect and create. Opening in November 2018, Studio23 was established to address the need for local, accessible and flexible programs for people living with disability and disadvantaged people living in Maleny.

Regular customers of Maleny IGA will know many of the delightful members from Studio23 through the work experience they do in-store to build skills, confidence and relationships.

“We have around 20 members who are thriving at the studio,” said Kris.

“We keep our groups small so there is always a ratio of 1 to 2 which means one facilitator to 2 members. This means they all get the support they need. We have had wonderful feedback from members and parents on our policy of treating all members with respect and equanimity.”
